Obituary of Josiah Jason Falk

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dearest son. Josiah passed away at home in the arms of his family after a brief illness with diabetes at the young age of 22.

Left to mourn are his parents Jason & Lylis Falk, sister Samantha (Mavrick) Harder, grandparents John & Mary Falk, Eleanor Rosner, girlfriend Anabella Wiebe and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Josiah was born on May 8, 2001, in Winnipeg, MB, to Jason and Lylis. Awaiting him at home was his big sister Samantha. Josiah was so excited to get his life started, he came almost six weeks early.

He was such a happy baby, but after some time we noticed him starting to get sick. At the doctor's appointment he was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the young age of 17 months. He was always a tough boy and never cried with all the needles he had to take, but nothing stopped this boy from enjoying life. Josiah spent his childhood playing with tractors. Being on a farm was in his blood, but he also had a great time playing school and dress up with his sister. On the farm that his dad worked at was a John Deere 5400. He loved that tractor and two weeks before his death he took his girlfriend to the old farm to show her that tractor.

Josiah spent the first 21 years of his life on this farmstead just south of Steinbach. After he graduated, he started working at this farm for two years. He was on the cleaning crew, which meant now he could be the one driving the tractor he always loved. This brought such excitement to him.

For in the next three years of his life, he worked at Versapile on the heavy equipment. He was a hands-on kind of guy and enjoyed fixing things. This trait came in handy for the Dodge Cummins that he had. He spent countless hours fixing and upgrading his truck. Everyone knew him because of this truck, and it seemed like everyday he came home with a new name of a friend who loved his truck.

He was so loved by everyone who knew him. During the last year and a half of his life, he lived in Landmark with his parents on another chicken farm. Which meant there was new tractors to drive. He always kept himself busy, but his biggest enjoyment was doing burnouts on Main Street (The streets are probably still smoking!). Boys will be boys.

Josiah will be sadly missed by everyone. He was a great friend to all. The family would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the EMTs and the staff of Bethesda Hospital.
